| Q: |
What does patemm® stand for? |
| A: |
patemm® is a combination of my childrens' names:
patTRICK and emmA. |
| Q: |
Where are patemm® pads manufactured? |
| A: |
patemm® pads are proudly handmade in San Francisco,
California! |
| Q: |
What size patemm® pad should I purchase? |
| A: |
While babies come in all shapes and sizes and grow at different rates,
here are some guidelines based on the average size for most children
based on age. The small 24-inch patemm® pad
is best for newborns and babies 6-8 months old. The 30-inch
patemm® pad is ideal for children
6-8 months old and older. |
| Q: |
What is oilcloth? |
| A: |
My selected oilcloth is approximately 95% PVC (poly-vinyl-chloride) with the remaining
material consisting of a poly/cotton scrim backing. (The fabric is a printed vinyl that is
bonded and supported with a woven cotton mesh.) Safety is a primary concern at
patemm & company, and the oilcloth has been tested and passes
the National Fire Protection Agency 701 classification for commercial and residential use.
All fabric is printed on one side only.
|
| Q: |
How do I care for my patemm® pad? |
| A: |
For the oilcloth prints: Simply wipe pad with a warm and/or hot, soapy sponge and dry with
a soft cloth. For extra disinfecting, wipe the oilcloth with a bleach solution and rinse with
clear water. The bleach will not affect or damage the print; however, the bleach could affect
the topstitch on the pads. |
|
For the algodon (cotton) collection: Machine wash in cold water; mild detergent; use no bleach; tumble dry low
heat, remove promptly, or hang dry. |
| Q: |
I'd like to use my patemm® pad at the pool
and beach. Can my patemm® pad withstand direct sunlight? |
| A: |
Avoid exposing your patemm® pad to direct sunlight for
extended periods as fading may occur. Your (oilcloth) patemm® pad is
waterproof in addition to being stain and soil resistant. |
| Q: |
Is the oilcloth OK to use with my child who has allergies? |
| A: |
There are no known allergies from my oilcloth and the fabric contains no latex. Known
allergies to oilcloth/PVC exists, and if you are concerned that your child may be allergic
to PVC, then patemm® pads are not recommended. If you have
further allergy concerns, please consult your physician. |
| Q: |
I noticed the pattern on my patemm® pad
seems inconsistent. Is that normal? |
| A: |
Variations in the fabric pattern, such as squiggles, speckles and off-register
printing, are integral to the oilcloth. These variations naturally occur in the
manufacture of the fabric, and will not affect the quality and durability of the
"oilcloth." |
| Q: |
How many items can I really fit in the pockets? |
| A: |
The small patemm® pad with pockets can carry up to
20 wipes either in a small resealable plastic (sandwich)
bag or one of those small resealable travel packs, 1-2 diapers, and a change of
clothes. The large patemm® pad can hold one of the name
brand plastic rectangular wipe containers, 1-2 diapers, and a change of clothes. The
smaller pockets in the patemm® pads are perfect for a
very small toy, and/or a small container of lotion/ointment. Please note, however,
the patemm® pads CANNOT hold bottles. |
| Q: |
How do I close my patemm® pad properly? |
| A: |
The best way to close your patemm® pad is simple:
when folding the second side, pull the one handle outward this becomes the
handle of your patemm® pad. Continue to fold into a
square; flip the handle over the patemm® pad and pull
the side handle out. Click here for
full instructions with step-by-step diagrams. |
| Q: |
Is there another use for my patemm® pad once my
child is out of diapers? |
| A: |
YES! The patemm® pad is perfect carrying an extra
set of underpants and clothes for those occasional accidents when your little one is
potty training. Older tots, potty training or beyond, love to carry and fold their
patemm® pads themselves, as the pads can easily carry
other "stuff," such as crayons, markers, small books, etc. The pad can then serve as
a work area for your child. Simply throw the patemm® pad
holding the "stuff" in your handbag, backpack, or car. Even better, have your little
one pack it up, fold it, and carry it!
|
| Q: |
What are the dimensions of the patemm® pads when
they are folded? |
| A: |
The large 30-inch patemm® pad folds into a ten-inch
square that is between 1.5 and 2 inches thick due to the inside padding. The 24-inch
patemm® pad folds into an eight-inch square of the same
thickness. Depth for both sizes will obviously vary depending on how much you put into
the interior pockets.
